Root ‘N Roost Farm is a small-scale, diversified, permaculture-based, human, animal, and renewable energy powered farmstead.

Since 2010 we have been developing our property to provide us, our local community and customers with an abundance of naturally grown fresh, delicious and nutritious fruits, vegetables, herbs and meats. Over the years we have kept pigs, chickens, turkeys and bees to help us work the land. We tread lightly on our growing spaces, avoiding the use of gas-powered large machinery wherever possible in favor of hand tools and solar-electric powered implements, and we never use synthetic chemicals on our crops.

Chickens, ducks, and pigs are at the center of the farming practices. They raise all birds from chicks, feeding them only certified organic feed, and allow them to free-range during their entire life which helps keep the birds happy and the soil fertile. Ducks are French Rouens, the meat chickens are Cornish Cross, and the layer chickens are a combination of Red Stars, Barred Rocks.

Root N Roost CSA Program

Our CSA shares are available in two sizes, full and half shares. A full share is sized to feed a family of four for a week, while a half share is sized to feed a couple for a week.

Each size offers a weekly pre-packed selection of 8-10 fresh vegetables, herbs and flowers as seasonally available from our gardens. We grow a wide variety of crops, from arugula to zucchini, and so many goodies in between. Expect plenty of greens and small roots for the first few weeks of the distribution, moving towards more of the heavier produce like cucumbers, zucchini and tomatoes as the season progresses.
