Hudson Valley Sojourner | A Guide To The Hudson River Valley
So, you want to list your business or organization on Hudson Valley Sojourner. Guess what? We want to list you! Yes, our listings are still free.
But first some rules:
Your business must be located in one of the following NY counties: Albany, Delaware, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Schenectady, Sullivan, Ulster, Westchester.
You must have a website to be listed in Sojourner. We will not list social sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
Really sorry but we will not list government agencies, auto/vehicle related businesses, real estate related businesses, or clinical/medical businesses. However, we just love schools, libraries, community centers, public venues, and public services that may be affiliated with or funded by local or national government.
Take for granted that we will not list sites dedicated to pornography, politics, hate, bigotry.
Of course, we reserve the right to not list a business or organization.
If you’re good so far then read on.
Some tips to put bang in your listing:
You will have an opportunity (if you like) to provide a business description and you probably should. If not, we may be able to create one from information contained on your website. If you choose to create your own, make it good! Make it engaging, insightful, and interesting.
Minimize hype such as “greatest, best ever, cheapest, etc”. No one buys into that junk anymore.
Do not include costs or business hours. We want readers to head over to your site for that.
If you are an artist, chef, crafter, please feel free to include some background and personal philosophies.
If you are in the restaurant or food service business and cater to special dietary needs it might serve you well to mention that your business offers dishes or products that are gluten free, vegan, organic, sugar free, kosher, etc.
If your business is located in a historical structure or a historical district, you may want to mention that fact.
If your business is involved in agriculture, be sure to mention if you raise organic, natural or grass-fed products, and something about your farm’s background and your farming philosophy.
If your business is lodging related and has scenic or attractive views or surroundings such as a river view, creekside, lakeside, mountain vistas, by all means add it to the description. The same goes for wedding and event venues.
Hey, did you make it this far? Ok, go for it! Submit a listing.
