Sorry you missed this eventSheep To Shawl Festival celebrates all things wooly sheep! Visitors are invited to explore each step in the process of turning wool into cloth using 18th-century techniques.

Hands-on activities include dyeing wool and weaving, and crafts for children, including sewing with wool and creating a picture from sheep or alpaca wool (NEW!).

Outside on the grounds, Scottish border collies display their skills at sheep- and duck-herding. Visitors are invited to enjoy a fashion show complete with critiques from Historic Hudson Valley’s own expert costume designer. Master storyteller Jonathan Kruk entertains with some lively tales.

NEW! This year we welcome beautiful, friendly alpacas from Faraway Farm in Yorktown Heights. Like sheep, alpacas’ furry coats are shorn in the spring and the fleece is washed, carded, and spun into a soft yarn.
