IKicking off the festival is the Gardiner 5K Cupcake Classic. It’s a one of a kind run through the beautiful apple and peach orchards of Wright’s Farm with spectacular views of the Shawngunk mountains. Walkers, strollers and dogs are welcome. All participants that sign up (before May 8th) will receive a T-shirt, a fresh apple from Wright’s Farm and a cupcake at the finish.
The event, which was first held in 2009, is a day full of cupcakes, food, music, local vendors, local wine tastings and activities for children. The first three years the festival was held on Main Street in Gardiner, but moved seven years ago to Wright’s Farm, a much larger venue to allow for more cupcakes and fun.
Wright’s Farm is a 453-acre farm with a 100 year history and is currently run by three generations of the Wright Family. With the new location the ability to expand the event has become possible, with several cupcake vendors – free activities for kids including cupcake decorating, petting zoo, wagon rides through the apple orchard and several bouncy houses.
