The Awakening Garden Cabin Retreats are tucked in between the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains on 98 acres of rolling land. It is just six miles from the Village of Saugerties and fourteen miles to Woodstock, N.Y.

The Garden is comprised of 98 acres of rolling land (most of it in a forestry protection plan) bordered on the west by acres of marshland. Many trails crisscross the Garden and lead one to pretty or interesting vistas including a large mountain laurel patch, ancient graveyard, and different stands of mixed wood forests. There’s lots of wildlife both on land and in the marshes. The Awakening Garden is only two hours from New York City and is a good place for an easy getaway. Awakening Garden Cabin Retreats offers two rental cabins, a yurt, and believe it or not, a tepee.

Thoreau’s Cabin is rustic, solid, humble, honest, beautiful and dreamy. It’s also comfortable. There are no beds in the cabins so you will have to supply your own sleeping bags. The cabin is sited among many tall trees. One feels spacious under the blue/green canopy, glimpsing at the Catskill Mountains and can feel at home outside by the camp-fire or sheltered and snugly inside.

The Twin Oaks Cabin at Awakening Garden Cabin Retreats is a 10X14 insulated cabin and is heated by a small ancient woodburning stove. The sleeping loft is graced with two leaded windows that bring in lights of the rainbow. The interior is finished with some whimsical/artistic touches. The reed cloth ceiling, the rug and the colors of the cabin all lend an Asian feel to this space. Outside of the cabin, there’s a campfire pit and a barbeque. The two cabins are 1000 feet from each other.
