Seasoned voice actor Alan Sklar reads Truman Capote’s charming story of small-town life and mystery.

This event will take place in the Library’s Reading Room. Free and open to all.

Jug of Silver by Truman Capote:

The slightly mysterious Mr. Hamurabi puts out a jug of silver coins in his drug store, saying whoever guesses the amount of money correctly will win the entire jug, money and all. The local townsfolk come flocking to his store because, with every visit, they get another guess. Then the very mysterious Appleseed, a young boy who says he was born with a caul on his head, comes and sits at the counter, looking at the jug, saying he is “counting” the coins. No one knows how or if he is counting. What will his guess be?

Alan Sklar has been a professional voice actor and narrator for over 30 years. His career primarily consists of narrating non-broadcast videos for corporate, medical, and financial clientele. He has voiced hundreds of such projects. He has narrated over 200 audiobooks, most of which are available in the Westchester Library system.
