Built in 1917, The Post Cottage Bed and Breakfast reflects the casual elegance of Shingle Style architecture.

Crystal chandeliers, handsome fireplaces, and a grand central staircase evoke the graciousness of a previous age. Guests will enjoy the spacious rooms with king beds, fireplaces, and private ensuite bathrooms.

They take pride in serving generous gourmet breakfasts. Stroll the Post Cottage’s parklike grounds, and play a set of tennis on the private court.

Post Cottage Bed and Breakfast is located next door to Cedar Grove, a National Historic Site, the home of Thomas Cole, founder of the Hudson River School of painting, and just across the Hudson River from Olana, the Persian style mansion of Frederic Edwin Church, another famed Hudson River School artist. It is a walk away from Catskill’s shops and restaurants, just across the river from Hudson, NY’s famous antique shops, and well situated to ski at Hunter and Windham or explore any destination in the Catskill Mountains or Hudson Valley.

The menu varies each day, and typical items include sweet potato pancakes with grilled ham, poached salmon or grilled trout with poached eggs, mango blintzes, multi-grain waffles, and many other possiblities.

As much a possible, we source our food locally.  We use fresh organic eggs from cage free chickens from a farm just across the river.  We often feature locally produced cheeses, such as the remarkable cheeses from Coach Farms or other New York State producers.  Some of our meats come from a smokehouse a few miles away, and our sausage is custom produced, incorporating fresh herbs.  ”
