The purpose of the Greene County Council On The Arts is to broaden and enrich the quality of life in Greene County by developing and strengthening all the arts and by fostering cultural and arts-related activities as a means of encouraging sensitivity to and appreciation of the arts and contributing to the County’s cultural and economic growth.
With this purpose, Greene County Council On The Arts provides information and services to artists, arts organizations, cultural and educational institutions, civic groups, community agencies and the general public. Acting as a chamber of commerce for the arts and a clearing house for the promotion of arts activities, we aim to stimulate the area’s cultural and economic growth through the arts.
To better serve our community, Greene County Council On The Arts maintains a year-round gallery in the river town of Catskill, the county seat. Our office, located at 398 Main Street in Catskill, houses galleries on two floors, a gift shop, a resource center and a grants and reference library. Our staff of professional arts administrators and programmers assisted by a core of dedicated volunteers, conduct community outreach programs, workshops, seminars, receptions, meetings, small performances, and literary events.
