The purpose of the Fishkill Historical Society shall be to gather and preserve information, objects, and resources relating to the history of Fishkill, especially the historic Van Wyck Homestead, and to encourage a knowledge of the Hudson Valley, including its role in the American Revolution.

The Van Wyck Homestead Museum is open for Guided Tours for the general public from 1 – 4 PM each Saturday and Sunday during the Tourist Season – June 1st thru October 31st. Guided Tours can also be arranged anytime that’s mutually convenient. The Fishkill Historical Society co-ordinates tours with other Historic Sites, especially during the Ramble Weekends each September. They also arrange for hands-on School Programs for local 4th grade students learning about American History during Colonial times – especially the American Revolution years.

The Fishkill Historical Society maintains a local history/genealogical library with an excellent selection of material relative to the Revolutionary War. It is available to all for research. Books are circulated on loan to members of FHS.

The FHS Gift Shop has a variety of items for sale including books on local history and the history of Fishkill, the Revolutionary War, Dutch American culture and local history.
