In 1928, Alice D.C. Livingston submitted a collection of sculptures to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts’ annual exhibition. Among them was an intriguing bronze sculpture depicting a draped female figure with hands raised in either exaltation or prayer. Recent research has uncovered a review of this bronze figure published in a 1928 edition of “Revue du Vrai et du Beau.” Although the review is relatively brief, it is the only published piece regarding Alice’s work and her exhibition history as an artist.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, please join us for a presentation featuring this newly discovered primary source and a broader discussion about the art produced by Alice as a self-taught sculptor.

This event is free of charge. While reservations are not required, they are appreciated.
