Summer 2024 at SteepletopThe Edna St. Vincent Millay Society at Steepletop is delighted to announce our upcoming 2026 Open Days: July 18-19, August 15-16 and October 10-11. Guests will be welcome to wander through poet Edna St. Vincent Millay’s gardens and fields, to explore the Poetry Trail that leads to the Millay family gravesites, and to bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds.

We welcome visitors to Steepletop for our first Open Days weekend, July 18-19. A limited number of tickets for 60-minute Millay House tours are available for $25 per person. House tours begin at 10 am each day and run hourly; the last tour is at 4 pm. Grounds & Picnic passes, which allow visitors to walk and explore the 200-acre property’s grounds, gardens, and trails, are available for $10 per person per day. Tickets for Millay House tours do not require advance purchase, but are strictly limited. Purchasing these tickets in advance is strongly encouraged to secure your spot on a tour. Grounds & Picnic passes may be purchased in advance or on site on the days of the event.

On Sunday, July 19, volunteer Lora Woodward will lead a two-hour grounds tour across 2.5 miles of relatively flat terrain, with occasional slopes. Also on Sunday, typewriter poet Jess Bowe will be in Millay’s writing cabin from 11 am to 4 pm, creating customized poems for visitors. There is no additional charge for the guided tour or the customized poems. The Jackson Gallery in the Tamarack Visitors Center will feature the exhibition “Edna St. Vincent Millay: Life at Steepletop, 1925-1950,” curated by Society vice-president Mark O’Berski. This collection of artifacts presents Millay’s 25 years living at Steepletop. The Steepletop Gift Shop will be open throughout the Open Days.
