HVSF Free Community Playwriting Workshop In Tarrytown
Saturday Sep/21/2024 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pmFree Event
The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival invites you to a Free Community Playwriting Workshop. Presented in partnership with the Warner Library on Saturday, September 21st, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
2024 Bake-Off Theme: Adaptation: “a shake of the kaleidoscope.”
Created by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel, the Bake Off is a communal writing event in which writers are given a random list of “ingredients” to incorporate into a play (for example: a kitchen sink, a front porch, and a withheld secret) to help inspire creativity and permit writers to play. In preparation, participants will attend a free playwriting workshop led by the Acting Director of the MFA playwriting program at Hunter College, Christine Scarfuto. All workshop participants can submit short plays to be considered. Between five and seven of these plays will be performed by professional actors as part of the Community Bake-Off hosted by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival live and in person on November 16th and 17th.
