The 1920s-40s brought tremendous change to St. James the Less. Rapidly increasing membership with the addition of the commuter rail necessitated more space for our growing congregation. The additions of the Great Hall, church transepts, and chancel under Dudley Stroup’s and Harry Price’s leadership made St. James more recognizably the church it is today. Scarsdale was ground zero for Episcopalianism, making us, for a time, the largest church in Westchester County. Parishioner Russell Grant guides us through this eventful period of our history.
