Boice Brothers Ice Cream is a popular and iconic family-run dairy business located in Kingston, New York. Founded way back in 1914 by Pratt and Harriett Boice, it’s the oldest family-owned dairy in the state. They operate a sizable dairy processing plant and have a friendly ice cream shop called The Milk House. It’s a popular local spot with a warm, rich history.
The ice cream shop whips up farm-fresh ice cream made from local Hudson Valley milk. They offer a tasty variety of creamy, flavorful ice creams, including hard and soft serve, ice cream cakes, and pies. Some favorites are classics like vanilla and chocolate, along with unique choices like pistachio-cardamom and Syrian date & walnut. Customers can order made-to-order ice cream cakes, pies, and hand-packed pints or quarts. The shop also serves sundaes, banana splits, milkshakes, parfaits, floats, and their popular “hurricanes.” Plus, they have lactose-free, sugar-free, and vegan/non-dairy options to suit everyone.
Boice Bros. started out delivering milk with a horse-drawn sleigh and has grown over the years, now involving the third and fourth generations of the Boice family. In 2014, they celebrated their 100th anniversary by setting a world record for the longest ice cream sundae, which measured an impressive 1,606 feet. The shop also features a charming outdoor seating area with a cow theme, complete with fun animal statues that kids especially enjoy.
