High Meadow School is an independent and progressive private school in the Hudson Valley for age 2 through 8th grade. The 7-acre school campus is located just 15 minutes from Kingston, 25 minutes from Woodstock, and 20 minutes from New Paltz. Bus transportation is provided by the Rondout, Kingston, Onteora, and New Paltz school districts for students residing in those districts.
Since 1984, High Meadow School has nurtured children’s love of learning by engaging their intrinsic curiosity in nature, one another, play, and creative expression. High Meadow empowers each child to be an independent thinker with a personal voice by providing opportunities to authentically and compassionately participate as a member of a diverse, democratic school community.

The alternative, progressive curriculum starts in the nursery school program
and continues through middle school.
High Meadow supports students as they build the knowledge, skills, and dispositions required to create a more just and sustainable world. In that vein, service is an essential value embedded in our school’s philosophy and curriculum. Students of all ages participate in school-based community service, local service opportunities, and national global efforts, and in the Upper School, service hours are required as part of the curriculum.
