Kedem Winery was established in the scenic Hudson Valley in 1948. The Herzog family who immigrated from Austria had been making wine there since 1848.
Kedem winery was founded by Eugene Herzog who moved to America with his family after the Holocaust and found a job making kosher wine for a small New York winery. Eugene’s family had been making wine for generations, going back to Philip Herzog whose wines were so appreciated by the Emperor Franz-Josef that he made him a baron. Eugene and his family were soon able to purchase the winery and today it is run by his descendants who continue to make delicious kosher wines in New York’s Hudson Valley.
Over the years the family has worked very hard to develop a full line of opulent wines bearing the Kedem label. In later years, Kedem expanded the selection with premium label Kedem Estates wines including a Cabernet Sauvignon. Crafted from rich New York State grapes, Kedem Estates wines are truly enchanting.
