Situated within the Washington Park Historic District, this elegant mansion was constructed in 1884, reflecting the distinctive New York architectural style and designed by the notable architect R.W. Gibson. Today, it functions as a boutique alternative to large hotel chains, offering guests a unique and refined experience in a historic setting.
Accommodations are split between the main Historic Inn, a brownstone without an elevator, and the Washington Park State House, an adjacent building featuring an elevator and studio apartments with kitchenettes.
Stays include a continental breakfast (7:00 AM – 10:30 AM), high-speed Wi-Fi, and access to a 24-hour kitchen stocked with beverages and snacks. Guests can enjoy a secluded English garden and a formal parlor floor featuring original 19th-century architectural details. Morgan State House Inn served as Alice Morgan Wright’s lifelong home. She was a distinguished suffragist and a co-founder of the Humane Society of the United States. The house is nestled within the picturesque Washington Park, a scenic area designed by the renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. Olmsted also created many iconic parks, including Central Park and Prospect Park in New York City.
