Celebrate the holiday season with a free screening of the beloved Christmas classic It’s a Wonderful Life at Albany’s historic Palace Theatre on Friday, December 18, 2026.
Presented as part of the M&T Bank Holiday Movie Series, this special screening brings Frank Capra’s timeless 1946 film back to the big screen.
Starring James Stewart as George Bailey, the story follows a compassionate small-town businessman who, overwhelmed by life’s difficulties, receives an extraordinary visit from his guardian angel, Clarence. Through a glimpse of what the world would have been like without him, George discovers the profound difference one person can make in others’ lives.
Doors open at 6:00 PM, giving moviegoers time to enjoy classic holiday trailers and videos and to enter to win special prizes before the film begins at 7:00 PM.
Whether you’re revisiting a longtime holiday favorite or discovering it for the first time, this free screening offers a wonderful opportunity to experience a cherished Christmas tradition in the Palace Theatre.
Admission is free for all ages, and tickets are available through the Palace Theatre. Groups wishing to reserve seats can contact the theatre at 518-465-3335, extension 127.
