The Gardner Farm Inn offers an exceptional lodging experience surpassing anything chain hotels provide. The Inn was originally built in the Federalist style during the 1700s. Renovations in the latter part of the nineteenth century incorporated Greek Revival and Italianate style elements.

In the past, a tunnel was excavated under the Brunswick Road leading to the Poestenkill River, which directed fresh water to a cistern in the basement. This freshwater was a luxury at the time and was utilized for cooking and bathing. Although it is not documented, the old Gardner Farm was believed to be a safe house on the Underground Railroad, and the tunnel was used to aid enslaved fugitives on their journey to freedom.

Breakfast at the Gardner Farm Inn is a stellar event with a full American breakfast each morning. French toast, fresh berries with yogurt, banana chocolate chip muffins, spinach frittatas, and omelets are just some foods prepared for you at Gardner Farm Inn. The duck and chicken eggs are free-range and organic, sourced locally. Produce in season comes from local farms and the Troy Farmers Market.

The Gardner Farm Inn is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to all the action and activities. The inn is located near local colleges and the Capital District’s exciting nightlife and dining options. There are also plenty of things to do in the surrounding region. You can drive to Saratoga Springs, Hudson, NY, or Bennington, VT, to enjoy antiquing, museums, wineries, and sightseeing.

And if you like the great outdoors, Troy is an easy trip to the Adirondack Mountains, Catskills, and Berkshire Mountains for hiking, kayaking, skiing, and cycling.

Each room in the Inn is meticulously decorated and maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness. The common areas are charming and are filled with exciting books and memorabilia.
