Root ‘N Roost Farm, established in 2010, is a small-scale, diversified, permaculture-based, human, animal, and renewable energy-powered farmstead. Over the years, Root ‘N Roost Farm has diligently developed its property to provide the local community and customers with abundant naturally grown fresh, delicious, and nutritious fruits, vegetables, herbs, and meats.

The farm strongly focuses on sustainable practices and has kept animals such as pigs, chickens, turkeys, and bees to help work the land. They prioritize eco-friendly methods, utilizing hand tools and solar-electric powered implements whenever possible and abstaining from using synthetic chemicals on their crops.

Chickens, ducks, and pigs take center stage in the farming practices at Root ‘N Roost. All birds are raised from chicks, fed only certified organic feed, and allowed to free-range throughout their lives, contributing to their well-being and soil fertility. The ducks at Root ‘N Roost Farm are French Rouens, while the meat chickens are Cornish Cross, and the layer chickens are a combination of Red Stars and Barred Rocks.

Root N Roost CSA Program

Root N Roost offers two sizes of CSA shares: full and half shares. A total share is designed to provide enough produce to feed a family of four for a week, while a half share is perfect for a couple for the same duration.

Both share sizes include a weekly pre-packed selection of 8-10 fresh vegetables, herbs, and flowers based on seasonal availability from the gardens. The variety of crops grown at Root N Roost ranges from arugula to zucchini, ensuring a diverse and bountiful assortment for shareholders. Initially, the distribution will include plenty of greens and small roots, with a transition towards heavier produce such as cucumbers, zucchini, and tomatoes as the season progresses.
